There’s something special in creating a portrait of a person. You observe the person’s face in a unique way, almost to the point of scrutiny. And if the person is someone so familiar, you discover many things about the face you normally didn’t notice before. I made a portrait of my father. I was fascinated with the melancholic way my father smiled, the numerous wrinkles around his kind eyes, the white stubbles… and it made me realize that the physical image of my father in my mind is outdated. I missed my father… I wish the family was together to celebrate your birthday. Good thoughts in every bit of this piece I offer to you. Happy birthday Papa! #art #artph #illustration #drawing #watercolor #pencil #graphite #portrait #father #gift

licky-baby asked:

Is there any chance you could list the clay and materials you used to create that adorable Baby Groot figure? It's awesome! I'm assuming you used grey sculpey, but I'd love to know how you painted him and made the glossy eyes! Thanks! -Alissa

Thanks!

Here are all the materials I used:

  1. Steel wires for the armature/frame
  2. Aluminum foil for the armature/frame
  3. SuperSculpey (Firm) for Main Body
  4. Vallejo Surface Primer (73608 Verde Oliva US) for priming
  5. Vallejo Game Color (72.051 Black) for eyes, it finishes as glossy
  6. Vallejo Model Colors (70.872 Chocolate Brown and 70.983 Flat Earth) for body
  7. Plastic leaves drilled into body

Hope that helps. I’m creating a batch of these over the weekend.

"They’re not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they’re destined for great things, just like many of you, their eyes are full of hope, just like you. Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see gentlemen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? …Carpe… hear it? …Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary."
